PALS Origin Story
My name is Luke Dixon. I am the founder of PALS. I graduated from Auburn in May ‘24 with a degree in Industrial Design.
During my final year at Auburn, I searched for a way to combine my passion for design, my hopes to fight wasteful manufacturing, and my growing appreciation for business & entrepreneurship.
From this, PALS was born August 29, 2023.
At the core of it all, PALS started with the intention to collect a portion of the 100 million landfill bound pallets, convert them into a usable material, and design & construct unique products.
Fall ‘23: I took my brand new idea to a event hosted by Auburn’s New Venture Accelerator, Halloween Pitch Competition. Competing against 19 other teams, and having very little traction to my idea, I walked away with no investment money but a ton of positive feedback and the drive to keep going.
Spring ‘24: Having one competition under my belt and spending a few months developing PALS & producing sales, I made it through both the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the larger event hosted by Auburn’s New Venture Accelerator, The Tiger Cage Competition, resembling the idea of Shark Tank for Auburn’s student body.
Spring ‘24: With graduation approaching, in the finals of the Tiger Cage, I was awarded the “Exemplary Undergraduate Award”. This prize money has gone towards starting up for PALS, but the people that I met along the way and the feedback that I have gotten has truly been a larger and more helpful reward.
Along the way, I have created many unique products
